Itoigawa variety with fine, vibrant green scales, particularly vigorous and perfectly suited for bonsai cultivation. Loses very little foliage in early summer, unlike the Juniperus chinensis type. Bark well developed as this specimen is over 15 years old. No major wire scars or pruning wounds. Originates from the nursery of Master Fujiwara! A true bonsai with original jin and shari, not to be confused with tanuki. Repotting was done in April 2023 and should be done again in April/May 2025. Admire the trunk twisted on itself with its shari, a unique character of this bonsai. Whitening of deadwood jin with product, tinted with charcoal, will give a beautiful ash-grey color. Collected as a yamadori, this tree features a perfectly formed bark, with no major pruning scars or wire marks. It was personally selected by Guy Maillot for the power and emotion that radiate from its expressive trunk and striking shari. Now aged between 80 and 90 years, the tree was refined and pruned in February 2020 by Japanese bonsai master Tomoya Nishikawa, in his own garden. Take a moment to admire the patinated shari along the trunk, weathered by time and the elements.
