sequoiadendron giganteum vida magical mistery ref : 11755 This variety is still rare on the market and is a lemon yellow improvement of the standard variety. It has a straight trunk and a very thick bark, cracked and clear brown colored. The main branches take a plunging slanting direction, giving its crown a very regular conical form. The leaves are like scales, spear-shaped, and their dimensions vary between 2 and 4 cm. The evergreen leaves present lemon yellow tones with glaucous reflections and red/brown colored cones. This resinous tree is quite resistant to cold in the tempered climate of France, Belgium, and Swiss. It likes light, the best is full sun exposure, or at least 6 hours a day of direct sunlight and a good atmospheric moist. It is sensitive to wind. It barely vegetates in the very hard soils. It is hard to multiply. Indeed, the "carrot" form of the Sequoiadendron roots system makes the transplantation of this tree quite difficult. The best is to plant it when it is very young. Its red/brown trunk stands out in any landscape. Adult height: about 300-350 cm. Adult width : 60-90 cm. Medium rate growth (30/40 cm per year).
