Pinus pentaphylla zuisho
Description
Tree height: 940 mm. Branching width: 1100 mm. Unglazed Japanese pottery: 580*440*140 mm with a slight chip on the rim. Sokan style. A bonsai over 60 years old, featuring an elegant conicity of the trunks and well-proportioned overall aesthetics. The branches are well-developed, displaying formed bark. The trunk diameter is approximately 400 mm at the base. This belongs to the "zuisho" variety, known for its particularly graceful small needles. Its relatively fast growth compared to the standard Pinus pentaphylla allows the formation of dense and beautiful plateaus.
The numerous branches facilitate relatively easy shaping, although small pruning wounds (Ø +-15 mm) are in the process of healing at the apex, with a small shari visible on the back of the trunk. The sokan style with two trunks is uncommon in zuisho variety pines. A recent structural pruning has been performed to reposition the plateaus.
Designed for collectors, this bonsai is sold without a stand. The photograph was taken in November 2023.
