In Japan, cotoneasters are popular for creating mini bonsai thanks to their fast growth and decorative red-orange berries. This variegated species of outdoor bonsai has green and cream coloured leaves. It flowers in spring, followed by small berries that last until the end of autumn and into winter, adding colour to the garden. This young tree, in moyogi style, is already showing good signs of growing into a superb mini bonsai.
