New shoots have a copper color, and its small fragrant flowers are waxy yellow. By the end of the season, these flowers give way to reddish-brown olive-shaped fruits measuring 8 to 12 mm. This specimen is over 60 years old, collected as yamadori, with well-formed foliage pads and very attractive bark.
