Pinus pentaphylla horai

Description

Height of the tree : 580 mm. Width of the branches : 50 mm. Japanese non-enamelled quality pot, firmed and with a sand color : 370*280*100 mm. Moyogi style. This bonsaï is more than 40 years old. The trunk has a good conicity, a formed bark and good general proportions. Beautiful ramifications. Diameter of the trunk : about 70-100 mm at the collar. There is a shari on the base of the trunk and jins on the branches that gives the impression that it has experienced. Horai variety with little and particularly graceful needles. Its growth is quite fast compared to the pinus pentaphylla type, it enables to form good and dense trays. No strong cutting wounds or wire marks. The work of structure and ligature done in the beginning of February by Master Tomoya Nishikawa particularly reinforced its standard and strong aspect and gave it an unique style.

A little story about this tree : this variety was discovered in Fukushima mountains at its spontaneous state and cutting were taken in order not to put in danger the mother plant.

The Abe family first began to cultivate it, it was very successful with collectors and it is still extremely rare, even in Japan. Shelf not included. Photographed in July 2021.
