What does wiring do?
Wiring is used to get a trunk or branch to go in a given direction as the bonsai is shaped. It is not absolutely necessary for shaping, but gives faster results than pruning alone.
How do you choose the right diameter wire to use?
As a general rule, it should be 1/3 of the diameter of the branch to be shaped.
